call me a fearmonger, seventh day adventist, armageddonist but i believe the second coming is a lot closer than we all think. i mean, have you heard about the cornucopia of natural disasters perpetrating our planet? indonesia is wreaked by earthquakes and hundreds, nay thousands are trapped in the debris. the samoan islands are being proverbially raped by even bigger seismic activity and the phillipines is about to get hit by its second typhoon in a week (kim i hope your city will once again be spared). come on mother nature, throw us a freakin bone here!
and as for the "wars and rumors of wars" that the scriptures refer to, well, WWIII could be upon us any day now, what with iran throwing out missiles like float riders throw out candy at a fourth of july parade. i made a deal with myself that i wouldn't discuss politics in my blog posts, so i won't mention anything about obama being more preoccupied with bringing the olympic games to the states than protecting them (and don't get me wrong here. having the 2016 games on our home turf would have been rad. would have been a great way to end your second term, eh barack? with the olympics in your home town, and you gathering the glory as the one who brought them?). oops. there i go discussing politics in a blog post. bad me.
anyhow, i'm not exactly sure what possessed me to post about this topic other than a need to vent and a whole lot of free time on my hands. listen. i know bad things happen every day but it just seems to me like they are occurring a lot more frequently and violently than i recall. throughout my life i've been extremely blessed that i've never had to experience any real heartache. sure, i've walked my own via dolorosa a time or two (mostly due to my own, disobedient actions) but not once have i had to endure anything like what the people of indonesia, samoa, and the phillipines are experiencing now. may god be with them. may he comfort them and strengthen them in their hour of need. and most of all, may god come again to redeem this earth from all suffering and pain. i know he will. and when he does, may i be ready.

Loved this entry. So wise, like a miniature Buddha covered in hair. I've been thinking this same thing for the past month now. All the natural disasters, and horrific news stories have been blowing my mind. What's also scary to me, is that the daily violence and murders are much more unthinkable than ever before. I really think it may be closer than we think. What I really can't imagine is the amount of wickedness that will be on the earth if we won't be alive when Christ comes.
Love you and can't wait to meet more blog entries!
