i really want to get a tattoo (sorry mom, but it's true)

so you know kat von d from l.a. ink? her real name is katherine von drachenberg and she is of royal german heritage. HOW COOL IS THAT? not only do i want to look like her, but i'd kill to have a name as rad as that. if only. i have ideas, so many ideas pulsing through my brain of what i might get should i ever be ballsy enough to get tatted up. of course, said goddess of the tattoo world would be the only one i'd let touch me with a needle. she's gotta have a waiting list the length of the great wall of china at this point though.

idea #1: it's a sleeve. left arm. full. allegory of dante's divine comedy. the inferno is my favorite book and i am deeply interested in the theology behind it all. so we would start with inferno: the river styx, 9 circles of hell, virgil as dante's guide-all the good stuff. then we'd proceed up my arm to purgatory with its 7 terraces and something about the grace and redemption of christ (as purgatory allegorically represents the christian life). using the sunrise as a transition we would then move into paradise, which would be housed on my upper arm/shoulder. as dante sees heaven only the way his human eyes can see them, my ink paradise will portray my own beliefs (and hopes; for example the endless buffet table chock full of lola dawn wilsons cooking with plates that magically refill themselves once they're empty, harry potter style) as far as heaven is concerned. included throughout the tattoo will be stanzas from the poem, in italian, as it is la lingua piu bella del mondo and coincidentally one of the most beautifully written poems in literary history. this idea is not completely thought out yet and as it will be both elaborate and extremely detailed, i would accept only the finest artist to draw it out for me.

idea #2: it's a rosary. a really pretty one. based partially on the coolest one in my collection that was given to me by my friend joe. location would be left side, ribs. the beads would be spherical roses. and the crucifix elaborately designed. once again, this idea is not 100% developed and i would need someone to draw it out for me. but this tattoo i think i will be more likely to get as it's not so......sleevey.

idea #3: keeping on the religious paraphernalia theme, this one is a crucifix. just a small, mostly unadorned cross. on my back. on the left side of my spine (not sure what's up with this left side obsession. perhaps just to balance things out since i'm right handed?) just under my scapula. really like this idea. simple, which is very me, and still symbolizes something close to my heart.

the common theme here is faith. if i'm going to get inked (which, just to be real, will most likely never happen. like 70% sure it will not happen at this point. so mom, and carrie, you can breathe easy) then it's important to me that my tattoo mean something to me. so kat von d, if you're reading, get drawing!

Huh! Try to think far into the future when you have children and they come to you saying they want to shave their heads, tattoo the anti-christ on their forehead, pierce their genitals, then stick hooks through their backs and hoist themselves up in the air.You get how I am feeling right about now? Not really what a Mom wants to hear, even if you are just dreaming.

can i admit that i too LOVE kat von d!! she has an incredible talent and if i were to ever get a tatted up she would be the only one that i would allow to touch me. i love your ideas.... all of them. i think they'd be beautiful. dante's inferno sounds intense but super cool. have you seen brian's tattoo? he just got the armor of god put on as a sleeve and i must say it's pretty cool. if you haven't seen it ask him to get you a picture of it and then keep bugging him about it until he shows you :)
